First Communion With An Irish Flair

It is clear that our Irish friends want to contain former Irish motifs in their child's First Communion.

Communion dresses made of fabric embroidered with shamrocks are available, for certain. But we've been noticing a trend this year away from "full-shamrock" styles to something more subtle.

Embroidered ties

Spring 2008 trends appear to be that of adding a wee bit o'Irish rather than an all-over design. How?

- Adding a tie to a suit with a shamrock or claddagh fastener on it

- Adding a purse with one of these motifs

- A rosary with whether a shamrock or claddagh charm added

- A headpiece with a few shamrocks

And of course, the guest book - a keepsake forever - can have the same.

The Motifs

Why the shamrock motif? It is said that the shamrock can laid out the Holy Trinity.

Why the claddagh? It is the fastener of two hands holding a crowned heart symbolizing friendship, loyalty and love.

Both motifs have a breathtaking connection with the First Holy Communion.

Yes, adding just a touch of Irish to a former First Communion - whether a boy's suit or a girl's communion dress - is the choice many are production in Spring 2008. But if you have a dream of the all-over shamrock make rest assured that there are no rules against it! This is purely a matter of personal preference and you verily are entitled to shamrocks in abundance in your child's First Communion day.

We're mearly reporting the trends taking place this spring.
