Food editors, pro chefs and cooking teachers were invited to be judges. Both the winners and the winning recipes were publicized. Essay and fabricate contests are also possibilities, such as a furniture store establishing a prize for student furniture design. Dress Shirts & Ties to Match Navy Suits

Question:

I am going to a wedding in a few weeks and I was wondering what color shirt to wear with a dark navy suit? And also what type of tie to match with it? I have tried it with a plain blue shirt but it kind of makes the whole outfit look very plain and dull.

Embroidered ties

Answer:

Dark navy suits are the most basic color suits every men should have in their wardrobe. The color shirts to match are limitless. I would rather continue discussing about the plain blue shirt that you have already chosen, it should not go wrong with your navy suit. Preferably you should select a blue shirt that is of medium blue rather than dark blue or light blue. Medium blue can be beyond doubt coordinated against most men's facial complexion as well as nicely matched against the navy suit.

Probably the best bet to brighten up your look would be the option of nice colored tie. If you are wearing a medium blue dress shirt, then you can play nearby with the separate gradient of blue with the darker navy on the outside, then the medium blue dress shirt on inside, and then ultimately going for a blue tie that is in between the colors of navy and medium blue. You can effort to pair it with a tie that has largely blue and patterns with other colors on it like white or red.

Nowadays it is easy to get hold of patterned ties. I would suggest you to try stripe or check or dotted ties. But commonly most men can coordinate good with stripe ties rather than check or dotted ties. In terms of colors, your tie just needs to have some basic blue or gray tone within it and the rest can be of more stunning colors like red, pink, yellow, green.

Is it Ok for a Guy to Wear a Pink Shirt?

Do you notice that many guys are now wearing pink colored shirts out in public? If you do, then you probably feel a bit uneasy about them. Pink has such a stigma of femininity that some habitancy feel that it's practically a crime against masculinity for a guy to wear a pink shirt.

It will probably never be entirely suitable for a businessman to wear a pastel pink shirt with his suit. It is strange that blue has never been considered a masculine color. Women are not stared at when they wear blue because it is a completely suitable color for women's clothing.

Embroidered ties

Many guys wore fluorescent pink shirts back in the eighties when fluorescent colors were big. These shirts were surf tees or tank tops with gym logos over the front, but they never looked feminine. The color pink has disappeared from men's clothing now that fluorescent is out, and pastels are in.

A pink shirt with the Red Sox logo over the front in gray is one of my beloved items of clothing. However, I would wear a blue shirt or a red shirt just as authentically as I would a pink shirt when it comes to athletic clothing. It is authentically hard to imagine a guy purchasing a pink shirt, even if it has the logo of his beloved sports team over the front.

Colors that are similar to pink like maroon and purple have not fallen under the same stigma as the color pink. There are a lot of purple shirts made for men and habitancy don't watch twice at a man who is wearing a purple shirt.

Men can find it hard to wear something that has been labeled as being feminine. For instance, not a lot of men are walking colse to wearing lace trim on their clothes or with flowers embroidered into the material. Maybe pink will all the time be for the girls. Anyway, it's fine with me because I like the color pink. I also don't think that I would enjoy finding my husband wearing my pretty pink Red Sox shirt while strutting colse to the house.

Irish Christening Gowns - Much More Than Shamrocks and Lace

Irish christening gowns highlight sharp designs and generations of craftsmanship. Celtic christening gowns look astonishing in embroidered shamrocks and Cluny lace. Although traditional, their charming Irish style allows for flexibility. The christening dresses might have shamrock lace, a shamrock inset, or other shamrock details. The gowns may have Victorian lace, Irish lace, or Venice lace.

Irish symbols can comprise Celtic crosses, the Claddagh, Celtic knot, or other Celtic symbolism. Irish christening gowns, just like Celtic wedding dresses, are embellished with 'shingerleens' (embellishments of Irish lace, embroidery, and ribbons). Some Irish parents have the family crest or the names of wearers embroidered on the christening gown, cape, or blanket. The Irish christening gown symbolizes purity, joy, faith, and new life.

Embroidered ties

Irish Christening Gowns

. Shamrock

The shamrock is one of the most customary and beloved Irish symbols. Symbolizing the Trinity, the shamrock regularly adorns Irish christening outfits. The shamrock can be woven into the fabric or be featured in one or more places on the gown.

Shamrocks, either green or white, can decorate everything from christening dresses and rompers to headbands and christening bibs. Satin gowns with overlay organza can have scattered shamrocks and tiny pearls. Often the bodice of an Irish christening dress will have embroidered shamrocks.

Floral shamrock embellishment can fill the bodice, sleeves, and skirt of a christening dress. You can pick christening fashions with many shamrocks or just a few - even gowns with just a particular shamrock. A boy's soft gabardine, sailor-style, christening romper can have embroidered shamrocks and clovers on the chest. The matching christening hat may also sport a shamrock.

. Lace

Irish baptism dresses use all kinds of lace from French lace to Venetian lace. The Irish Cluny lace is a cotton lace. With a light and airy appearance, Cluny lace resembles the crochet stitch.

Irish christening gowns can highlight lovely lace in interpret style. Vertical lace can create isolate 'panels' on a skirt that are deeply scalloped - each one with distinct embellishments. The town front can be amazing with a cross decorated with embroidered ribbons and gorgeous flowers. The side panels could have shaped lace in a Celtic pattern and more lace can adorn the scalloped hemline.

. Irish Linen

Linen is a extra fabric that has been woven from natural flax fiber for thousands of years. Linen is woven throughout the world and is a strong and resilient fabric. With its specialist spinning, weaving, and finishing, Irish linen is recognized as the world's finest linen. Fine linen from Ulster, Ireland, is a beloved for Celtic christening fashions including bonnets, under slips, and booties. 100% pure Irish linen can be decorated with tiny, embroidered Celtic knots, a row of shamrocks or rosebuds, and pretty pearls.

A lovely Irish linen gown is a pleasure with delicate Venice lace beading and shamrock lace featuring an embroidered Celtic cross with trinity knots and shamrock appliques. An Irish linen christening gown can have crosses and hearts on scalloped Victorian lace at the hemline. A gorgeous, petite trouser set and Grandad shirt (with 'grandad' collar), can be made from pure Irish linen.

. Crocheting

Often crocheting will show up on Irish christening gowns (sometimes called 'robes' in Ireland). Crocheted in fine, mercerized cotton with a hint of shine, a bodice might highlight a shamrock inset with picot chains and a satin ribbon at the front. Crocheting was introduced in Ireland in the mid-nineteenth century.

Women and children were trained in the art. Within a few years, the Irish had come to be skillful adequate to supply markets in Dublin, London, Paris, Rome, and New York. Crocheting work helped to supplement family income. Indeed, some Irish habitancy used the money to immigrate to the United States.

. Smocked

Although Celtic christening dresses can have intricate detail, the smocked gown is also a longtime beloved in Ireland. Made from fine Irish linen, with triple pin tuck finishing information across the hem, a lace-edged under slip, and matching bonnet, this simple style can reflect an air of elegance. Exquisite hand embellishment can adorn the bodice, bonnet, and sleeves of a soft, smocked christening gown.

. Celtic Cross

The Celtic Cross shows up everywhere at Irish christenings. The Celtic Cross (or high cross) is a beloved Irish symbol. Maybe a particular Celtic cross might be in the town of a skirt with white (or light green) shamrocks going colse to the hem.

Crossed shamrocks may rest on a bodice beneath a Celtic cross with heirloom leaves on either side. Shamrocks and leaves can continue colse to the hem of a christening gown. A boy's christening romper might have embroidered Celtic crosses or his satin shoes might show off a Celtic cross.

The Celtic cross is believed to signify the four directions of the wind as well as the four seasons. The earliest known Irish high cross can be traced back to Donegal. The seventh century Carandonagh Cross was part of a hermitage in the northwest of the County.

. Celtic Knot

The Celtic Knot is a beloved garnish for Irish christening attire and accessories. The Celtic Knot build has been found in the jewelry of the Celts - even going back before the time of Christ. The Celtic Knot is related with the garnish of early Christian monuments and manuscripts (such as the 8th Century Book of Kells). This Irish stamp is understanding to protect against evil - the more complicated the knotting, the greater the protection.

The Celtic Knot might show up on the bodice of a three-piece, puff sleeve, christening outfit with a Celtic floral lace trim. Even a blue Celtic knot cross may be featured on the bodice of a gown. Sometimes red roses surround a blue and gold knot cross while a shamrock, claddagh, and thistles go colse to the hem. Often below a town cross, the baby's name and the date of the christening will be embroidered on the gown. Trinity Knots can be embroidered across the chest directly under the collar on christening rompers.

. Claddagh

The Claddagh (a 'holding hands' stamp - sign of friendship and love) is always seen on christening fashions. A gorgeous christening gown might have a satin ribbon band on the front yoke with a Claddagh applique. As well, christening accessories use the claddagh such as in a crystal rosary anklet with pearls, cross, and a claddagh charm.

. Celtic Tree of Life

The Celtic Tree of Life is another Irish stamp that can be applied to a christening gown. The Celtic tree of life is supposed to deliver wisdom. The stamp is believed to deliver messages from the gods.

. St. Bridget's Cross

St. Bridget's Cross is a customary Celtic stamp that shows up on Irish baptism gowns. Brigid's crosses are related with Brigid of Kildare who is venerated as one of the patron saints of Ireland. Made from pure Irish linen, a christening gown can have a pin tuck skirt, satin ties at the back, and a St. Bridget's Cross embroidered on the bodice.

. Tara Brooch Embroidery

Christening capes may use embellishment modeled after the Tara Brooch - one of Ireland's best-known antiquities. Believed to be made about thirteen hundred years ago, the real Tara is an ornate Celtic ring brooch made of gold, silver, copper, amber and glass. The brooch was found on the seaboard at Bettystown, south of Drogheda, and is now preserved in the National Museum of Ireland in Dublin.

. Christening Capes

Christening capes - especially the Kinsale cloak - are beloved for Irish babies. For hundreds of years in rural Ireland, wearing a hooded, full-length cloak was a tradition. Indeed, cloaks can still be seen in the area west of County Cork.

. Spirals

Pretty spirals float softly across Irish christening gowns. Prominently displayed on antique Irish artifacts, Celtic spirals are second only to knotwork designs as the symbols most related with Celtic art. Without any written history about spirals, there is still some mystery colse to their meaning. Within the Druid faith, it was forbidden to put sacred material into writing. No doubt, spirals represented something sacred to the Druid people.

Most scholars believe that because of their simplicity, spirals are symbols of the spiritual equilibrium in the middle of inner and outer consciousness, the sun, and the cosmos. Some Celtic art scholars believe that the point of the spirals may lie in their direction. Clockwise spirals may be related with the sun and harmony with the earth. Counter-clockwise spirals might be related with the manipulation of nature. Other habitancy think that the Celtic spiral symbolizes the seasons of life and the cycles of time.

Often Celtic spirals are seen in antique burial mounds and sacred places. Many believe that spirals have mystical powers that forestall evil from entering into a sacred tomb. In 1991, archaeologist Kate Johnson, at Arizona State University, conducted computer diagnosis on the structure of some Celtic spirals found in antique rock carvings. He compared these spiral patterns with tremendous events that had occurred over the policy of the last millennium. Agreeing to his research, the Celtic spirals were strict representations of illustrated planetary configurations and the brightest fixed stars while total eclipses ages ago.

The Triskele (or triskelion) is a three-pronged spiral which is often used as a basis for more complicated spirals. Some recommend antique Celtic triskeles represented the Triple Goddess of the three ages of womanhood. Later, the stamp came to narrate the Holy Trinity in Christianity - God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The motif is based colse to the estimate '3' regarded as a sacred estimate in many antique cultures.

Tribute to a amazing Woman - My Grandmother

My grandmother would have been 86 today. A few years back she lost her battle with cancer. What was scary was it was sudden, within a week or so that we even had learned about it. What was a blessing was that we were able to be with her straight through it.

I feel so fortunate to have known my grandmother as the woman she was. After my mom's disunion my sister, mum and I moved in with her and my aunt and lived the next 9 years together. My grandmother was an fantastic woman who I do not know that I fully appreciated while those early years.
She was a mum to five daughters, grandmother to nine grandchildren. She was incredibly dependable. Her word was golden to us. She was all the time there for us when we would get home from school. She was very private, finding her cry all the time made you take pause and wonder what was hurting her. She hated eating noises with a passion. I remember eating a carrot (the noisiest of the noisiest things) in the living room and feeling her eyes on me. Crunching as quietly as I could, she would say oh just hurry it up will you. Her beloved expressions were crime-a-nuttly! and loved calling population turkeys on the road. She was tiny and loved her heels. I often wondered how she had such tall daughters and granddaughters, she was so small. She said how did that happen, when I called to announce I was pregnant with my son. She was proud but having a son, was pretty uncommon in our family that has a great number of females. My sister and I would play spiders and climb up to the ceiling in the hallway as she would pass by. We would drop down behind her and give her a scare. She put up with so much. She hand wrote and sent my sister and I letters every week without fail when we moved out. She included Snoopy stickers, celebration stickers, exclamation stickers, you name it to express her mood throughout the letters and envelopes. She was a die hard Republican and hand wrote her politicians every opening she could. She would get passionate and mad at the television as she saw the screw ups her politicians were making. She had personalized political stickers printed up and put them on every piece of mail she sent, even handed them out to others in the social service to contain on their correspondence. She was a wife and mum from Wwii and believed her girls should be strong. She had microscopic tolerance for frailness or self pity. She had fantastic skin, all the time healthy, glowing, very few wrinkles. She was all the time by the phone whenever you needed to talk and all the time had the sass whenever you needed a birthday, an anniversary, a who did that when, any piece of information you could think of. She instilled tradition by making sure we had a Christmas tree every year, had celebrations for every major holiday. She changed her sheets to match the season, match the holiday throughout the year. She never made us brownies or cookies or did the things I opinion a grandmother should do while growing up.

Embroidered ties

One thing she did without a doubt is leave an anticipated impression on the women in her life. Her strength, sense of self, values run deep. While she was a tough woman on the outside, she was full of passion beneath. I feel thankful to have known her as I did and miss her dearly.

Happy Birthday Grandma, we miss you.

Dr Seuss and The Cat in the Hat Story

Born Theodor Seuss Geisel in March 1904 in Massachusetts, America; Dr Seuss never earned a Ph.D rather he naturally took the title 'Dr' in acknowledgment of his family's unfulfilled hopes of him earning a doctorate in literature during his time at Oxford University. It was during his time at Oxford that he wed and it was later that same year 1927, that he and his new wife Helen returned to America.

On his return to the States he began to produce his occupation by writing and illustrating humorous articles and cartoons which were published by assorted magazine titles. It is on his return from a vacation in Europe that Geisel gets the idea for his first poem 'And to Think I Saw it on Mulberry Street', the tempo of which was set whilst he listened to the beat of the ships engines.

Embroidered ties

This poem was to become his first book but was repeatedly rejected by publishers and was only printed when a friend finally stepped in to help. The war years saw Dr. Seuss turn his attentiveness back to political cartoons producing over 400 in a two year period. Geisel joined the army and was sent to Hollywood where he wrote a number of propaganda films winning an Academy Award for best Documentary in 1947 for the film produce for Death. Away from military propaganda his short moving movie 'Gerald McBoing-Boing' also won him an Oscar.

His popular childrens works evolved principally from an report which appeared in Life magazine in May 1954. The report was a report on literacy standards of school children and identified that the low levels of literacy attainment were primarily as a direct effect of their books being boring. Spurred by the article, Geisel's publisher created a list of 400 words which he forwarded to Geisel with the challenge to reduce the list to 250 and then originate a work that would sustain the interest of the reader. Despite disliking the fact that the words included in the list were based on the sight vocabulary learning recipe generally used in schools (and not supported by Geisel); nearly a year later, he completed The Cat in the Hat, a masterpiece that used only 223 of the words in case, granted yet displayed all of the imaginative prowess of his earlier works.

The book became an instant success due not only to it's simplified vocabulary but also to Geisel's easy drawing style. The Cat in the Hat story is about two children and their talking goldfish who are left alone in the house when their parents go out. As it is raining, they are left inside with nothing to do. Enter The Cat in the Hat with Thing One and Thing Two and whilst attempting to amuse and cheer the children up all manner of chaos results.

This is the first appearance of the Cat in the Hat character who appeared again in four added books: The Cat in the Hat Comes Back, The Cat in the Hat Song Book, The Cat's Quizzer, and I Can Read With My Eyes Shut!.

The Cat in the Hat books have become treasured children's stories that have retained their popularity for more than five decades. This popularity has been boosted added by the release of a major appeal photo in 2003 which starred Mike Myers cast in the title character and the adoption of the Dr Seuss characters and settings by Universal Studios in its Orlando amusement park. The movie of the Cat in the Hat followed the 2000 release of 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas', which starred Jim Carey as The Grinch. Due to its unending popularity, and the large number of material available; The Cat in the Hat and the other Dr Seuss characters are great choices for the theme of a children's party.

Ornate Curtain Tie Backs

Have you ever wanted to have a permanent and easy way to keep open and close your curtains without a lot of hassle? The key to a good curtain tieback (sometimes referred to as a holdback or hook) is it should be straightforward to use and permanent. A tasteless technique is naturally tying the curtain panel into a loose knot as a temporary explication but not only can this damage the curtain over time but it is an inefficient recipe for heavier curtains and time enchanting to retie curtains that have come undone. Cloth tiebacks are also a potential explication but these wish fitting the curtain straight through a small loop of fabric and pulling the curtain out again. Once again this is a time enchanting method.

Solid brass curtain tiebacks are a great explication to these problems because they are constantly installed directly into the wall and have a straightforward one step system. The curtain is pushed over the tieback and is for real supported by the post. Tie backs range from small to large and depending on the weight of the curtains, distinct styles may be more proper than others.

Embroidered ties

Hook Style: A hook style curtain tie back will have a U or V shape and is perfect for use with heavy drapery or wide curtains that have a lot of extra fabric that will need to be held back. This includes heavily embroidered fabrics and heavy materials such as velvet. This style will typically use 2 to 4 wood screws for installation.

Post Style: This style is a T shape when held vertically and has a post with a screw lowest that is mounted directly into the wall. These tie backs are fantastic for light weight curtains or small panels. This is great for lace, sheer or any similar fabric that will not generate a large "bunch" when it is being held back.

Curtain tiebacks have been used for centuries and can be an elegant expanding to the home and your window treatments. Remember that window hardware can consist of a variety of pieces together with sash locks, sash pull and curtain rods. Tiebacks can help to generate or improve your existing theme because many patterns are ready together with excellent Victorian designs and modern patterns.

Are Chinese and Japanese ancient Clothing Similar?

Ancient Japanese clothing is often mistaken as the 'Kimono'. The word kimono plainly means 'thing to wear' and it is a modern term coined when Japan was pressurized to name a national costume. Though what is call a Kimono today is somewhat similar the clothing of antique Japan. The long, narrow garment worn now tied with an Obi, or a Sash nearby the waist, was a look achieved nearby the Edo duration (17th to 19th century).

Japan was a range of loosely tied clans and while Japan aspired to come to be an Empire, it had increased trade with China. With the coming of trade, came Chinese dress materials and style of clothing. Ti will hence be safe to assume that antique Japanese clothing was largely influenced by antique Chinese clothing. Chinese antique clothing has been setting trends for centuries. Rules of dressing were followed religiously and most dress patterns and designs were influenced by religion. antique Chinese clothing was in warm tones with a lot of exaggeration and silk sashes used to tie the robes instead of buttons. During the Zhou Dynasty, dragon robes were seen mostly worn by emperors. These were heavily embroidered with nine yellow dragons and five cloud patterns. These were carefully auspicious for the wearer and had a symbolic meaning. The nine and five combinations were calculated deliberately used while designing; this symbolized the dignity of the throne. Dragons were embroidered on the front and back of the robes, also the knee areas and even shoulders.

Ancient Chinese clothing for women was the Cheongsam which was a one piece suit consisting of a high neck with a fulfilled, collar and short or medium sleeves. The fitted waist and slits on the sides complimented women's figures well. The tunic suit dominated antique Chinese clothing, known as the 'Zhongshan suit', had a turned down collar and 4 pockets. Animal print exaggeration patches were used During the Ming and Qing dynasty. Beautiful in appearance and very intricate, these embroideries also symbolized the ranks of officers who wore them.

Both the antique Chinese clothing and antique Japanese clothing evolved over the centuries and During different dynasties ruled. The major differences in the designs and embroideries were that while the antique Chinese clothing symbolized religion and auspicious symbolism; the antique Japanese clothing was more colorful and used floral patterns without any symbolic meanings. Both the clothing styles however distinguished in group ranking, age, sex and other aspects. Clothes of a wearer explained their group status or their marital status where women were concerned.

Customized Neck Ties - Where to Find Them and Some History

Everyone has gone to a formal event at least once in their lives. One example of a formal event is weddings. Everybody has at least gone to one or two weddings. For women, there is the dilemma of seeing the right dress or the right gown to the event. Some may think that men are lucky that they don't have that kind of problem. However, men also do have problems manufacture choices especially when it comes to neckties.

Neckties are commonly fabric that is designed to decorate a man's neck. They are often placed under a man's shirt collar and are tied in a knot under a man's throat. They are often worn as part of a uniform or as formal wear.

Embroidered ties

There are commonly four types of neckties. The cravat is a type of necktie that dates back to the early 1660's when a regiment from Croatia visited Paris and was presented to Louis Xiv. The officers in this regiment were wearing pieces of silk nearby their necks which Louis Xiv took a liking to. The king then made these neck pieces an insignia of royalty.

The four-in-hand necktie was popular in the 1850's in Great Britain. Its popularity grew as today they are a part of men's formal wear. These are often worn by businessmen as part of their office attire. This type of necktie is the most tasteless tie worn nowadays.

The six- and seven-fold ties are an additional one type or variation of the four-in-hand necktie. It was popular in America in the 1930s and emerged again in the 1980s. This type of tie is basically two or more pieces of silk which are sewn together and are folded. There usually is six to seven sections of silk in the middle of these folds.

The clip-on tie is a four-in-hand necktie or a bowtie which is permanently knotted therefore removing the trouble of unknotting the necktie upon removal and knotting it again if a person is going to use the tie again. This tie is fastened to the front of the shirt collar with a metal clip. This type of tie is often found on airline pilots, law enforcement, and service clerks whose occupations require them to wear a tie that's not hazardous to his/her safety.

Great care is practiced when taking care of a necktie since it is thought about to be the most perishable item in a man's wardrobe. This is because of the delicate material of which the necktie is made of and the added strain of knotting and unknotting the tie. It is a good idea to be right in doing and undoing the knotting. It is also advisable not to send a necktie to the dry cleaners but instead rubbing it against a piece of the same material or removing spots with a spot remover.

People can find neckties in the men's area in department stores or in men's boutiques. However, for those who want a more personalized feel to their neckties, they often find themselves wondering where to find a customized neck tie. For these people, the internet provides a clarification to their problem. There are multiple websites over the internet which offers necktie-making needs. All a customer has to do is tell them what he is seeing for in a necktie or give the makers some feedback on how he wants his necktie to look like. The price differs as each compose is made of separate materials.

Il giardino segreto

Il giardino segreto Video Clips. Duration : 3.28 Mins.

-------------------------------------------------------------------- The Secret Garden But you know I talk with you again ...... I caress your quiet breath. Some nights that air is lighter ... tinkling of bells ...
